Three More Days

This is the fourth and final installment chronicling my 2003 deployment with VFA-97 aboard USS Nimitz, as told through emails from the time.


It is early November and we are nearing the end of a very long and challenging deployment. My two older brothers have joined me on the ship, along with over a thousand other “Tigers” who boarded in Hawaii. The last leg home is a festive occasion.


This closing email to family and friends, penned while my tigers sleep, summarizes the previous eight months and explores the joys of an impending reunion. It is a bittersweet time…
