The second in a trilogy of stories following fictional U.S. Navy fighter pilot and former TOPGUN instructor Jim “Flip” Wilson in high adventure in the air and on the seas. The setting for Declared Hostile is the Caribbean Sea.
Declared Hostile returns to the characters we know and love from Raven One, and introduces new ones who fit right in.
Hozer continues regaling the reader with tales of carrier-based naval aviation and the inner workings of airwings, aircraft carriers, and the test community. A not-implausible scenario develops with a belligerent country in the north of South America and we see how naval aviation can quickly transition from training to combat.
Our hero experiences a particularly harrowing ordeal in the climax of the book that had me on the edge of my seat. Factually accurate, believable, and true to naval aviation practices and policies, this book not only offers a deeper look at carrier operations but at potential regional conflicts.
If you enjoy naval aviation, you’ll love Declared Hostile.
