The human body is not naturally adapted for flying in general. Now add the high altitudes and extreme accelerations that high-performance military jet aircraft are capable of achieving, and suddenly you have a real concern.
On this episode, U.S. Navy aerospace operational physiologist Commander Susan “Cyclone” Jay explains how pulling Gravitational Force. The pull of earth’s gravity that people and objects experience as “one G” in an unaccelerated state or “zero G” when falling., air sickness, decompression sickness, trapped gas, and spatial disorientation all take a toll on the human body. The good news is, with awareness and proper training, most of these concerns can be managed.
